Our Curriculum Philosophy

Curriculum

At Wisdom, our broad philosophy is to provide a holistic education, with a variety of career pathways. Our belief is that every child has their own unique gifts, interests and talents and we endeavor to provide opportunities for our students to develop and explore these.

We utilise a number of pedagogical approaches to suit the task, the context, the content, the learner. To this end we access teaching and teaching methods such as Direct Instruction, Project Based Learning, and Experiential Learning, and learning frameworks such as Bloom’s Taxonomy and Maslow’s Art and Science of Teaching.

As you can see, we don’t ascribe to any one particular pedagogical framework. Instead, we have established our own, and this is known as ‘The Wisdom Way’. It is our curriculum philosophy that is bespoke to our context, our community and our students. It’s designed with the key principles of differentiation and personalised learning, it provides consistency to our students, and is underpinned with the desire to ensure our students have depth of content, but are also critical thinkers, collaborators, problem solvers and innovators.

We follow the Australian Curriculum in Prep to Year 10, and we follow the QCAA (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) for all Year 11 and 12 General and Applied subjects. We also offer a range of vocational subjects and partner with external providers to deliver these.
